One of our longest-standing tenants, Wigon Office Supply, will be closing its doors this fall. Since opening in 1932, Wigon Office Supply has been a familiar and beloved presence on Free Street for 94 years.

In coordination with owner Sally Wigon, J.B. Brown & Sons was honored to host a two-day event last week where teachers were invited to take anything they could use from the shelves—completely free of charge. Teachers from Portland, South Portland, and Westbrook came out to fill their classrooms and clear the shelves.

For both J.B. Brown & Sons and Sally, giving back to our community is a privilege we are truly honored to share. We are incredibly grateful to everyone who helped make this event possible. Seeing the direct, positive impact on our local educators was an experience we won’t soon forget.

And with that, we’re excited to introduce an annual tradition:

The Sally Wigon Teacher Appreciation Day

Moving forward, this event will continue Sally’s incredible legacy of generosity and her commitment to supporting our local teachers and schools. The location and date are still to be determined, but we are already looking forward to carrying this tradition into the future.

Thank you, Sally, for 94 years of serving our community and for inspiring us to keep giving back to those who give so much!
